Church celebrate new halls

It has taken 5 years of planning, fundraising, building and lot of praying, but the newly refurbished halls and the new link building and welcome area at Christ Church with St Philip are now open. A steering committee guided the initial project, an architect was employed by the Future Links Committee and gradually funds were raised to transform the old halls into modern, functional spaces to suit the needs of the community.

More than £750,000 has been raised in order to achieve these works and grateful thanks are due to the many people from the community who have supported the various fundraising events including concerts, quiz nights, barn dances, auctions, jumble sales, fairs and a flower festival. Sincere thanks are also due to various bodies who have supported the project through very generous donations and grants including Biffa who considered the project a suitable cause for enhancing the community.

The new welcome area:

The new welcome area with its seating area and servery is open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9-11am offering tea, coffee and a place to rest and chat before or after shopping.

The Halls

The halls are already in great demand by the youth organisations who regularly meet there, but there are now additional rooms available for hire.

The stage has also been refurbished and new curtains fitted making it an ideal venue for local dramatic events once more.
